Classroom Loves

As we all know, Valentine's Day is right around the corner.  It's the perfect time of year to encourage our kids to show love and kindness to each other.

It's also a great time to recognize and share some of the things that we love in our classrooms.  To celebrate this fun holiday, I am linking up with the Primary Powers to share my Classroom Loves.

I will freely admit that I am addicted to colored pens. (I also love notebooks, colored paper, and all types of school supplies.)  Flair pens are my current favorite type of pen.  They write like markers but don't bleed through papers.  I use them for everything and carry several different colors around with me at all times!

Every Friday our elementary students have gym class for the last 45 minutes of the day.  They LOVE gym.  In fact, it's pretty hard to get anything substantial done on Friday afternoon because they are so excited about gym class coming up.  It's especially exciting during the winter.  The students are stuck inside for any and all free time so having some time to run around at the end of the week is something to look forward to!

I started using reward coupons instead of a prize box or candy in my classroom this year.  You can read more about how I use the reward coupons {here}.  So far, everyone loves it.  The students love earning special treats like wearing slippers or bringing a stuffed animal to school.  I love the fact that I am not spending extra money on cheap {easily broken} toys or unhealthy candy.

  3. I love reward coupons. Last year I had coupons and a treasure chest for student rewards. This year I just have reward coupons and fancy pencils. I don't think I will go back. It saves me money and the students love it just as much, if not more, than getting little trinkets. I think I will keep the fancy pencils too, since kids are always losing pencils it's a useful treasure for them to choose.
