My Teaching Quirk(s)

I really had to think about the topic for this week's link up with Monica at I Heart Grade 3.  I don't think of myself as being very quirky although others might not agree with that.  But I did come up with two things that other teachers in my school think are unusual.  {That means they are quirky, right?}

I'm Obsessed with Organizing.
I absolutely LOVE to organize.  I like everything to have a specific home so that it is easy to find and use again.  Most teachers have packed filing cabinets and messy drawers and cupboards.  I clean mine out and reorganize them almost every summer.  The only thing that is not organized enough in my classroom right now is my library. {I'm planning on fixing that this summer!}

 I'm Upfront with My Students.
Every teacher has days where they aren't feeling their best. {We all know it's more work to call in sick.}  Some days when I come in with a bad headache or even feeling a little crabby, I like to just tell my students right at the beginning of the day.  I tell them that I am not feeling well, and that I need them to be on their best behavior because I am not going to be that patient.  After all, why not just tell them?  Isn't that easier for them if they just know why you aren't yourself?

 Anyway, I don't think of myself as being very quirky, but I can't wait to read what everyone else has to share too.  Stop by I Heart Grade 3 to read about the quirks of other great teachers.

  1. I aspire to be that organized, but generally fail miserably. To compensate I try to set aside a few minutes on Fridays for "clean out" time. Then the kids and I all try to find the insides of our desks :)

  2. I call those days when I am not feelin well "subbing for myself"!

  3. I wish I had your organization skills! I am working on organizing this summer! I ordered a life planner from Erin Condren and have purchased some binders and dividers to get my school stuff in order! I might be coming back to get some tips!!

    Thanks for linking up!
