Story Time with a Special Treat

Such a dreary day called for a fun way to spice up story-time.  Mrs. Meader brought in microwave popcorn.
The Kindergarten and 2nd grade students enjoyed listening to a chapter from The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary.
The rest of the students have been reading Henry and Ribsy, also by Beverly Cleary.

You should ask your child to tell you about what has happened so far in the story!

Fun Fall Activities

Well yesterday was the official first day of Fall.  (I personally consider Fall to start when school starts again because that is when my summer ends.)  Our elementary kids each completed a fall project of some sort yesterday.

  Scarecrows

Some of the students colored and cut diligently to make these Autumn scarecrows for the windows of their classroom. They worked on using different colors and coloring neatly. I think they did a great job!

Fall Scavenger Hunt and Writing Activity

The other students went on a Fall scavenger hunt. We walked around the school property looking for different colored leaves, acorns, and signs of animal life. We felt the breeze and listened to the birds. Then the students wrote about what they saw and drew a picture. I was so proud of how they turned out!
Noah was most fascinated with the frog we saw.

Jared's picture was full of Fall colors.

Danny decided to do leaf rubbings for his picture.

Colby's picture was full of colorful details.

We had a blast celebrating the first day of Fall! What did you do to make the first day of Fall special?
